Shalom, and happy morning to you. When it comes to the body, what you eat will determine your health and thereby affect your joy. Eating unhealthy foods may bring instant gratification and short-lived elation, but it leads to physical consequences down the road which will yield bitterness and disappointment as your health slowly deteriorates.
You’ve probably heard the saying, “You are what you eat.” Well this is true in a sense, for what you ingest and imbibe will greatly impact not only the shape of your body and its functions, but also your mood. Well, the same is true when it comes to Yah’s treasured words, which we must eat to live healthy and happy spiritual lives. If we neglect to eat his words on a daily basis and instead subsist on a meager diet of worldly entertainment and the pursuit of foolish and inconsequential knowledge that does not lead to spiritual health and joy that results in life, then we will become unhealthy in spirit and die a spiritual death. Eating Yah’s words, however, which are righteous and life-giving, and full of Yah’s pure essence, will cause us to become what we eat. And in this way, we will bear his name.
16 Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Yah, Elohim of hosts.
