Shalom, and happy morning to you. Those who are Yah’s will be marked by a special trait that cannot be faked: they have an intense longing for his laws and will strive to keep them. What is more, that intense longing will not go away; it will only grow stronger, intensifying as they continue to serve and obey Yah faithfully. And because of that service and obedience, their lives will be blessed.

The opposite is true for those who have heard the law and once kept it, only to later slip away and wander from them. According to the law itself, there’s a specific punishment for those souls:

26 Cursed be anyone who does not confirm the word of this law by doing them. And all the people shall say, So be it.

—Deuteronomy 27:26

Yes, the soul that hears the law and refuses to keep it, or once kept the law and wandered from it, will be accursed. Yah, of course, will rebuke such souls, just as he rebuked the first of their kind: Cain; but their accursed status will keep them wandering on the path to destruction.

20 My soul is consumed with longing for your righteous judgment at all times. 21 You rebuke the insolent, accursed ones, who wander from your commandments. 22 Take away from me scorn and contempt, for I have kept your testimonies.

—Psalm 119:20 – 22
