Welcome to another edition of the LKP Treasure Trove
Just because we can’t physically see Yah, that doesn’t mean that he isn’t there. That’s like thinking the sun goes away when it gets cloudy and rains. No, the sun is still there, shining above the clouds, just like Yah is still on his glorious throne surrounded by light as he watches over us here on earth. The same is true when people do wrong and think they can cover it up and hide their thoughts and actions from Yah. There is no where we can go to get away from Yah’s presence. Tyla and her dad will discuss this truth in today’s story.
Above the Clouds
It was Tyla’s first time on a plane. Her dad sat next to her and reassured her that everything was in Yah’s hands.
“There’s nothing to be scared about when we’re in Yah,” Dad said.
Tyla looked through the window and saw the city shrinking to nothing as it drifted away in the distance under dark, cloudy skies. “I’m not that scared anymore, Dad,” Tyla said as she leaned back in the window seat. “I’m not even that nervous. I said a prayer.”
“Good,” Dad said. “I said one myself. It’s always good to say a little prayer if you lack strength or courage at certain times.”
As the plane ascended Tyla asked, “How high do you think we’re going to fly?”
“We’ll probably level off at 35,000 feet,” Dad said. “That’s the cruising altitude for most commercial airlines.”
“Looks like it’s going to storm soon,” Tyla said. “The sun is nowhere in sight. It’s as though it disappeared.”
Dad leaned his head back and considered Tyla’s statement. “You know, it’s very interesting that you say that, Tyla. Just as we’re unable to see the sun during a thunderstorm, many people fail to see Yah when the storms of life come. But he’s still right there, high above, just like the sun is high above these clouds.”
Tyla smiled. “And even though we can’t see him in the flesh, he sees us,” she said. “And the storm doesn’t make the sun go away. It’s still there, just like Yah is everywhere around us.”
“That’s right,” Dad said. “There’s even a verse that words it something like that. King David wrote a Psalm that says, ‘Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in the grave, you are there!’ So, even though we can’t physically see him—as you pointed out—there’s no way to get away from Yah’s presence.”
The plane rose above the clouds where the sky was bright and blue. And the sun was shining powerfully in all its magnificence.
“There’s the sun!” Tyla said with excitement.
“Yep. Just like we figured,” Dad said. “And the same way we’re leaving those storm clouds behind, everyone will eventually make it through the storms of life too.”
Tyla agreed by saying, “Yeah, Dad. Then we’ll all feel like we’re above the clouds.”
NOW, WHAT ABOUT YOU?
Do you remember that Yah is there, watching over you even though the dark clouds of life overshadow your joy at times? Sitting above those dark clouds is Yah, who is ready to lift you out of your misery and woe if you surrender to his will and ways. Even when we think we’re out of Yah’s sight, he sees all that we do and knows our every thought. We cannot hide our thoughts or actions from Yah. In Jeremiah 23:24 Yah asks, “Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares Yah. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares Yah.”
