Morning Morsels 039: Plot No Evil

We are commanded to not plot evil against those who have not wronged us.

View Transcript

Shalom, and happy morning to you. There are those among Yah’s people who are full of violence. They speak hatefully and talk openly of wicked plots against people who have done them no harm. Vengeance and hatred fuels them, but the only one who deserves to be vengeful is Yah. Deuteronomy 32:35 tells us that vengeance is his, and recompense. And, in Amos 5:15, the only thing Yah instructs us to hate, is evil.

So, the righteous have no business plotting evil against their neighbor, or seeking vengeance, or developing a devious heart, for this puts us at odds with Yah. We are commanded to not even envy violent people nor emulate them, for Yah is against those with such hearts. And in the book of Proverbs, we are told in explicit language:

29 Do not devise harm against your neighbor, while he lives securely beside you. 30 Do not contend with a man without cause, if he has done you no harm. 31 Do not envy a man of violence and do not choose any of his ways. 32 For the devious are an abomination to Yah; But He is intimate with the upright. 33 The curse of Yah is on the house of the wicked, but He blesses the dwelling of the righteous.
